Sony has been struggling with declining TV sales

All three companies have something to gain from such an arrangement. If the product is successful, they may be able to win back market share lost to Samsung and LG in recent years. Google would love to be able to deliver their services to a new generation of connected TVs and Blu-ray players.

TV manufacturers are working to integrate services with connected units, and this partnership could be a big step in that direction. No word on exactly what Google software these sets would be running, but some specialized build of Android seems like a possibility. Would you interested in this product?

Certainly Intel has the lion's share of the PC market, but owning a new one is never a bad thing. There are also rumors that Logitech is working on a wireless keyboard/remote system. The trio of companies may be unveiling the new devices at a conference on May 19-20. Could this be the real product behind the Google TV rumors last month?

Sony has been struggling with declining TV sales over the last few months. Now sources have indicated the Japanese company will be stepping up their game by releasing TVs with Intel chips and running Google software. I think this is a good idea. I think Sony having a low powered Intel chip with Google software running on it will be great. Logitech creating a remote will be awesome too.

Intel hasn't officially launched its new Atom N455 and N475 processors

According to the spec sheet, the new model is largely unchanged from the original NB305, save for the faster processor (1.66GHz) and 1GB of DDR3 RAM.

Intel hasn't officially launched its new Atom N455 and N475 processors, but that hasn't stopped some eager vendors from letting the cat out of the bag. One of those is Toshiba Japan, which earlier today posted a product page for the new NB305-10F netbook before quickly pulling it offline.

Over at Amazon Germany, the same processor is being flaunted in a couple of new HP Mini 210 netbooks available in black or silver. The 10.1-inch machines are slated to arrive in 3-4 weeks and boast the same Atom N455 processor as the above Toshiba, 1GB of DDR3 memory, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, and a 250GB hard drive.

There’s very little to differentiate one netbook from another these days. Manufacturers are basically just putting different enclosures around the same hardware. That’s largely a result of restrictions placed on netbook specs by Intel and Microsoft. With the upcoming Atom N470.

Asus will release its Eee Pad tablet

Asus is also working with Google to weave its Android platform into the Eee Pad. The benefit here is users will have access to an ever-increasing marketplace, which will prove critical in going up against the iPad. The Eee Pad will also include at least one USB port, an integrated webcam, and Adobe Flash support, Shih noted.

No word yet on how much it will cost, but early estimates put the price tag at around $480 to $510 when bundled with telecom carrier services. I'm assuming the actual tablet won't look like the picture above because that looks like it's just a cropped picture of an ASUS netbook's screen. Anyhow, I'll only consider this over the iPad if it's capactivie touchscreen and made of scratch-resistant glass like the iPad's.

The tablet wars are going to heat up this summer, and Asus will be right there on the battlefield going up against Apple, HP, and everyone else pushing for a 2010 release. For Asus, July is the month to mark on the calendar, which is when the company will release its Eee Pad tablet, according to company chairman Jerry Shih.

Now that the whole world knows what Apple's iPad brings to the fight, Asus has been busy equipping its Eee Pad with a few weapons the company hopes will give it a clear advantage. Chief among them is Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset, which should open the door to some impressive 3D graphics and gaming.

Dual Core Netbooks review

Should Intel go through with this, it would be a win for everyone involved. Intel's partners have long wanted to sell dual-core netbooks, primarily because consumers would love to have one, so long as battery life doesn't take a major hit. And for Intel, injecting a bit of performance into a form factor that badly needs it could go a long way in preventing a flurry of would-be netbook buyers from jumping ship and swimming over to tablet island.

There aren't a whole lot of details about the chip, but apparently it will haven a 10W TDP, up slightly from the 7W and 8W single-core Atoms found in current netbooks. The dual-core part will probably come clocked a little slower than today's single-core chips, a trade off we suspect most will be more than willing to make.

Not just yet, mind you, but later this year. Word on the Web is that Intel plans to release a dual-core Atom designed for netbooks sometime in the second half of 2010, and probably in the fourth quarter.

It might soon be time to take that netbook of yours out behind the shed and put it out of your misery. Or better yet, sell it on Ebay. That way you can use the funds to replace it with a dual-core netbook and do a little more than just basic computing tasks.

Your next Vaio laptop will be built by Sony

All laptops will still carry Sony branding, as well as have the "taste of Vaio [and] the style of Vaio." Sony will have to approve all third party designs, which Akahane ensures will be just as reliable as division one laptops.

Don't assume that your next Vaio laptop will be built by Sony. In an interview with PC Pro, Ryosuke Akahane, deputy president of Sony Vaio's Business Group, announced a two-tier strategy for the company's laptop division. According to Akahane, Sony will continue to design and built Vaio laptops designed as "division one," while "division two" will be build by the company's partners.

"The quality criteria itself is no different between division number one and division number two," Akahane explained. So why the change? Put simply, the company wants to sell more laptops. Ten million to be exact, which is the goal Akhane laid out for 2010.

New Virus Extort Cash with Porn-laden Web History

The website the history is published on is owned by a shell company known to be associated with other malware scams. Security experts warn that paying the ransom is unlikely to result in the removal of the information. It's more probable that the malware makers will just sell the card number. Over 5500 users have admitted to being infected. Might be a good time to update your antivirus, in case Kenzero variants spread.

Users of the Japanese file-sharing service Winny are grappling with a new threat today. Trend Micro is tracking a trojan called Kenzero that steals a user's web history and posts it online until such time as the user pays up. The virus is masquerading as illegal copies of explicit Hentai games, assuring the affected individuals likely have at least some embarrassing items in their browser history.

The virus appears to be a game installation screen that requests the personal details of the user. It then posts the web history along with the personally identifiable information. Users are confronted with an email or popup demanding 1500 yen (about $16) to "settle your violation of copyright law" and remove the stolen information from the website.

I mean everyone has at least looked at porn once at least by accident. It's like the thing about masturbation. Everyone does it but nobody is willing to admit they do it. They almost always lie about it. Who cares. If I look at porn thats my business. Why would I be worried about what others think. It's all sex and we all do it.

Lenovo Release Skylight Smartbook

Apple sold over 300,000 iPads at launch (including pre-orders), but more importantly, the Cupertino company officially kicked off the era of tablet computing. That doesn't leave smartbooks in a very good position, which quite frankly weren't in a great position to begin with.

Lenovo first announced its Skylight device back in January and said it would ship in April, but that was before anyone outside of Apple had any kind of inkling as to when the iPad would ship. And if the timing's bad now for smartbooks, it's not going to get much better. HP's highly anticipated Slate is just around the corner, and you can bet everyone else will be looking to cash in on this emerging market, just like OEMs did when netbooks started coming into their own.

The tablet may have just claimed its first victim, though it's a bit early to tell for sure. What we do know is that Lenovo has decided to the delay the launch of its Skylight smartbook by at least three months, which leaves us to speculate on where the market is headed.

Now everyone here thats been here a while will try and remember back in the day when Netbooks first started out I was the one pointing out how great it would be if someone would start producing a convertable laptop to be used as a tablet because I knew a tablet would be awesome to have.

Apple Acknowledges iPad Wi-Fi Headaches

If this applies to you, Apple suggests creating separate Wi-Fi network names to identify each band, which you can do by appending characters to the current network name. Failing that, be sure that both networks use the same security type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc). Failing both of those, Apple says to try resetting your network settings using Settings > Genera l> Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Since the iPad's release over the weekend, some users have started complaining that the integrated Wi-Fi is busted. Reported problems run the gamut from not being able to connect to their network after bringing the iPad out of sleep mode, to not being able to get a signal unless standing right next to the router. And of course there are the usual complaints of dropped signals that seem to accompany nearly every Wi-Fi enabled device.

According to Apple, there are a couple of things you can try if you're experiencing wonky Wi-Fi support. The problem, says Apple, is that under certain conditions, the iPad may have trouble rejoining a known network after restart or waking from sleep. These specific conditions include using the same network name for each network and/or using different security settings for each network.

And the wireless signal needs to travel through Apple certified atmosphere, otherwise using the "mother nature" supplied stuff can cause interferance!

Asus Launches Core i3 Notebook, review and information

Other features include 4GB of DDR3-1066 memory, 320GB hard drive, DVD burner, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 0.3MP webcam, HDMI port, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and an 8-cell battery. Fire up a game, for example, and the discrete graphics will kick in, but will take a back seat to the integrated solution when you're composing an email.

Asus today launched what it describes as a "strikingly stylish" 13.3-inch notebook, the U30Jc. The thin and light laptop is the world's first notebook to pair Intel's Core i3 processor with Nvidia's Optimus technology for a "perfect blend of performance and power management."

Nvidia's Optimus architecture plays a big role in the above mentioned blend, which stretches battery life by intelligently switching back and forth between the integrated Intel GMA chipset and Nvidia's GeForce GT310M discrete graphics.

According to Nvidia, 2010 will be a big year for notebook graphics, and more specifically, for Optimus-enabled notebooks. By the middle of 2010, Nvidia says you can expect some 50 laptops to support the company's Optimus technology.

In case you missed our previous coverage, Nvidia's Optimus technology gives mobile warriors the best of both worlds: battery life and discrete graphics. It's a sort of hybrid solution in which Optimus determines how much GPU power is needed for a particular task and then routes the process either to Nvidia's discrete GPU or Intel's integrated graphics. And no special drivers are needed, just an Intel chipset.
